Ensure you have a year of positive changes, abundance, and prosperity
According to the Gregorian calendar, the calendar used in the Western World, a new year is celebrated on January 1. I don't believe new beginnings should start during the winter. Spiritually winter is a time when everything lies dormant; it is a sacred time for reflection and rest.
I believe the Ethiopian Calendar, called the Ge'ez Calendar, is much more aligned with us spiritually because the New Year starts on September 11th. How you enter the New Year is the vibration you will carry out for the rest of the year. Let's get you ladies ready for the new calendar year!
10 New Year Spiritual Rituals:
Bring in Prosperity, Abundance, and Blessings for the "New Year."
1. Perform a Smoke Cleanse: Open all doors, windows, cupboards, and Toilet lids, slide back that shower curtain, and smoke cleanse with your favorite incense powder. Negative energy and spirits reside in hidden areas, so opening every door and letting your smoke reach these areas are key in thoroughly smoke cleansing your home. Remember, Sage removes and strips all energies, so if you use Sage, you will have to cleanse inward with a herb that draws in and attracts, such as Palo Santo, Frankincense, Copal, etc. Smoke cleansing is a tradition we use in the Caribbean because it is a healing tool to support recovery from illness, create a clean, peaceful, and nurturing space to heal, and attract conditions such as abundance, prosperity, and love. We burn these herbal powders around our home and "bath" in them by smoking our bodies from our Ori (head) down to our feet. This ritual is repeated on everyone who dwells in your home or who will be in your home on New Year's Day.
2. Add Cash & Clean out your Wallet:
I recommend keeping at least $40 cash in your wallet and preferably $20's because the number 2 in numerology represents love, harmony, balance, the high priestess, and partnership. In the Vedic Science of Vastu Shastra, we believe keeping certain things in your wallet can cause negative energy and money loss. Remove torn papers and receipts; Coins should be separate from bills and kept in a fashion so that when you open your wallet, they should not fall because this invites expenses. Avoid green color wallets because they create expenses. Yellow, white, red color and brown color wallets are the best.
3. Change Your Computer Passwords:
Make sure all your passwords align with your reality, hopes, and dreams. Your subconscious mind is the key to success, and you can reprogram it. The subconscious mind goes beyond learning new skills. It’s involved in information processing and affects everything we think, say, and do. Your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between reality and imagination. Since we type in at least one password daily, why not use that password to align with our goals, dreams, and desires? Also, accompany your new passwords with positive affirmations with a healing frequency. It’s been proven that our subconscious mind absorbs information better when we are relaxed, so you can also use these affirmations when praying, journaling, etc.
4. Take a Herbal Spiritual Bath:
If you can't dip yourself into the ocean. Make a spiritual bath with sea salt, limes, rosemary, and rum or with Cascarilla, Florida water, and White flowers. Call in your Spiritual court, give gratitude, pray for blessings, and read Psalm 23
5. Eat Greens & Black Eyed Peas:
Speak your intentions while preparing your food and while consuming it. Greens are for money, and Black Eyed Peas are for good luck. If you practice ancestor veneration, please give your Egun the first pour on a white plate or Jicara.
6. Kiss At Midnight:
Start your year with love and harmony, whether with a partner, a child on the forehead, or a friend on the cheek.
7. Wash Dirty Laundry:
Dirty Laundry holds negative energy; when it's pilled, it's a nest of negative energy. Wash your dutty linens to remove the most negative energy from your home. If you have it, you can use our Spiritual Laundry Cleanser to raise the spiritual vibration of your clothing and remove negative energies.
8. Clean Kitchen & Bathroom:
According to Vastu Shastra, your kitchen represents the Lord of Fire--Agni, and the ruling plant & element is "Venus" & Fire. Your kitchen is tied to recognition, success, and fame. Keep your kitchen clean, with no dishes in the sink, leaky faucets, and no stored pots/pans in your oven. Keeping red items in your kitchen is also auspicious, so if you're seeking that raise, promotion, or public recognition...get that red rug, wallpaper, and handtowel, Sis!
9. Stock Pantry & Purge Fridge:
You should always bring a full pantry and fridge with fresh food in the new year. I recommend stocking on grains such as beans, rice, and pasta since grains are tied to money. Throw away any stale and old food; it's better to have an empty fridge than one full of old or rotten food.
10. Floor Wash:
Give your floors a fresh mop with our High Vibe Floorwash; if you have it. If you don't, boil basil, rosemary, or thyme, pour the water into your bucket, and add cascarilla or Anil powder and Florida water. Floor Washes are essential in inviting positive energies into a home, removing and warding evil spirits and negative energies. You can also use this blend in your car!
11. Wear something New & White:
I know an all-black fit is sexy and mysterious however, it's best to start the year in white clothing. Every color holds a vibration, and white represents purity, peace, nobility, justice, purification, and salvation. These characteristics are far better to start the year with.
EXTRA TIPS!
Don't take anything out on New Year's Day---garbage, recycling etc. Everything should be out on New Year's Eve before midnight.
Don't wash your clothes on New Year's Day.
Don't forget to thank your Egun (Ancestors) for another year of life and pray for their Elevation. Give them a glass of water and a white candle.
May this year bring you abundance, peace, prosperity, love, success, and protection, Queen!
